The damn acts as a home for the beaver with the only access being underwater, (see diagram )providing protection and shelter against its predators like wolfs, bears and coyotes.
The biggest beaver dam in the world was discovered in 2007 in a remote area in Alberta Canada It spans for 2,800 feet and can be seen from space.

Beavers teeth never stop growing, as much as 4 feet per year, they love to eat the bark and leaves from the trees that they fell. Their constant gnawing on wood keeps their teeth from growing too long.
The teeth appear orange-yellow in color, because the thick enamel contains iron deposits which keep the teeth strong so they are able to chew through large tree trunks.
